I hope you have remembered the orphanage for the AIDS affected children that we did visit in last December. There are almost 20 children in it. May is coming to end and June comes soon. When June comes, children schools will be reopened. They now need uniforms and books. We shall help them in this regard.
On Saturday, i.e. June5th,2010, Ranjith and myself went to the home and got the details of the cloth.
They showed us their uniform dress. For each of 20 Students, it requires, 1.25meter shirt piece and 75centimeters for short (nikkar). For each of other 5 students, it requires, 1meter for shirt and 40centimeters for short. So, on total, we need 30 meters for shirt and 18 meters for shorts. We talked with a local tailor dwelling over there. At first, he told, he would charge Rs120/- to stitch a pair but later he himself agreed to stitch the clothes @ Rs.100/- per pair as they will be given to the orphanage. He
is an old man and we saw him working hard at that age. So, we agreed to give him what he asked without bargaining. Even it will be helpful and encouraging to him.
I'm glad to inform you that finally, I have bought the clothes yesterday, June 9th, 2010.
We took 30meters of shirt piece from BINNY mills and 14 meters of pant piece from BINNY mills. Shirt costs Rs68/- per meter for which he gave discount of Rs3/- per each meter. Trousers costs Rs110/- per meter and no discount is given.
On Saturday, June19th, 2010, NukaRaju(DRDO) and I visited Shanthi Ashramam and donated notebooks and pencils to these children.
